Under the Stars: KDS DAR School Launches "Movies on the Commons"

This summer, something spectacular is happening KDS DAR School! In celebration of America’s 250th Birthday, we are thrilled to announce the launch of "Movies on the Commons," a free outdoor summer movie series for our entire community.

Each Thursday evening in July, the Centennial Campus Commons will transform into an open-air theater featuring a giant 25-foot inflatable screen. It’s the perfect opportunity to gather with neighbors, friends, and family to enjoy popular films under the stars.

"We wanted to do something that would be fun and memorable for our community," says Heather Green, KDS Executive Director. "What better way to celebrate our Nation's birthday than by gathering together as a community and enjoying great films?!"

This special series is more than just movie nights—it is a community-wide

celebration of our country's historic milestone birthday. "Movies on the Commons" is proudly sponsored in part by a generous grant from America250 Alabama, helping us bring civic pride, history, and entertainment right to our backyard.

No movie night is complete without snacks! Refreshments will be available on-site, provided by local vendors as well as our own school clubs and sports teams. Come hungry and support our local students and community members!
