KDS DAR School is pleased to announce Gillian Head and Clint Carter as its 2026 Continental Congress Representatives. Following a thorough selection process, Gillian and Clint, KDS juniors, were chosen to represent the school during the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution’s 135th annual Continental Congress in Washington, D.C., this June.
All junior students were invited to apply for this honor. Applicants’ names were passed on to a nominating committee, resulting in six finalists who were interviewed by a panel comprised of members of the KDS Executive Committee, Administrative Staff, and High School staff.
Gillian Head is the 16-year-old daughter of Brent and Tara Head. She has been a student at KDS for 8 years. Gillian is ranked 2nd academically in her junior class, while taking language and biology college courses and Advanced Placement courses at KDS DAR High School. Her future plans are to attend the University of South Alabama where she will study nursing with the goal of becoming a pediatric oncology nurse. Gillian also hopes to continue her volleyball career at the collegiate level while at the university.
Gillian is a very active young woman, participating in and holding leadership positions in extra-curricular activities such as KDS DAR Student Government Association, National Honor Society, Leo Club, Mu Alpha Theta, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and prom committee. She serves as captain of the DAR varsity volleyball team and is a member of the track team. Gillian is also a member of the Gunter Mountain Society, C.A.R. In her free time, she enjoys baking, reading, and playing pickleball.
In reflecting on what attending KDS means to her, Gillian stated, “After moving from Texas in 4th grade and enrolling at KDS DAR Elementary, the campus impressed me with its beauty and history. As a military child, I truly appreciate the school’s emphasis on patriotism!”
KDS junior Clint Carter is the 16-year-old son of Gerald and Veronica Wilder Carter (KDS Class of 1994). He has attended KDS since kindergarten. An Advanced Placement student, the class Clint enjoys most this year is AP English. He states, “The study of language strengthens reading, writing and communication skills that are essential to almost every career as well as everyday life. It also helps students think critically, express ideas clearly and understand different perspectives.” Clint’s plans after graduating high school are to enter the HVAC field by attending a trade school where he will gain hands-on training and industry recognized certification.
Clint is a member of the National Honor Society, Patriot Historical Society, Art Club, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He is also a member of the DAR men’s basketball, cross country, and track and field teams. Very active in church activities, he participates in the Lads to Leaders Christian leadership program through song leading, speech, Bible Bowl, and puppets. In his free time Clint enjoys spending time with family and friends, practicing basketball, church activities, studying, reading, and video games.
Sharing his thoughts on what makes KDS a special place, Clint states, “KDS DAR is a close-kinit school where people support one another and take pride in what they represent. Our school provides a welcoming environment that values academics, patriotism, and tradition while creating a positive atmosphere that encourages community, teamwork, and personal growth for students.”
