The KDS DAR Middle School Peer Helpers continue to keep busy with many beneficial activities. One of the first activities of the new year was Law Enforcement Appreciation Day followed by a student-led campaign to “Respect Others” which included a schoolwide activity of positive posts on social media.
The group spent February surprising Middle School Counselor Lisa Fountain on School Counselor Appreciation Day and personalizing Valentine cards and candy for more than 350 of their classmates as well as all the Middle School teachers. They also prepared goodie bags for school bus drivers in recognition of School Bus Driver Appreciation Day.
One of the biggest undertakings the Peer Helpers have tackled this year was planning the Middle School’s first school dance since COVID. The students planned all the decorations, the playlist, the refreshments, and manned all of the stations for an enjoyable event for the entire student body.
While working on these projects, the Peer Helpers also promoted their Kindness Campaign, creating posters and bulletin boards encouraging kindness.
