KDS DAR Middle School Earns Prestigious Blue Ribbon Recognition

KDS DAR Middle School has officially been designated as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Lighthouse School, honoring the campus for its high level of academic achievement and institutional growth.
The milestone was celebrated during a special ceremony held in the school’s Doris Pike White Gymnasium on Thursday, October 1, 2026. The event brought together campus leadership, including Principal Jennifer Morrison and Assistant Principal Michelle Clay, alongside Marshall County Schools Superintendent Dr. Cindy Wigley.
The Blue Ribbon School of Excellence designation is awarded to schools that demonstrate strong academic standards, effective leadership, and a commitment to continuous student improvement. In its most recent evaluation, KDS DAR Middle School earned an overall Alabama state report card score of 87. Beyond standardized performance metrics, the school was specifically recognized for its targeted initiatives to improve student engagement, which resulted in a notable reduction in chronic absenteeism over the past year.
With this award, KDS DAR Middle School joins a select group of schools across Marshall County and the state of Alabama to achieve Lighthouse status. The recognition highlights the dedicated efforts of the school's faculty, staff, students, and community partners in fostering a supportive and high-achieving educational environment.
