KDS students returned to some exciting changes when the new school year began on Friday, August 8. DAR Primary School, which consists of students in Pre-K through 2nd grade, was established ahead of the opening of the new DAR Elementary School to better prepare students and teachers for the transition. Brandon Edwards has been hired as the DAR Primary School Principal.

DAR Elementary School, consisting of students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades, is led by Cilia Smith as principal. DAR High School is pleased to welcome Miranda McCoy as assistant principal. She replaces Brandon Edwards who now heads the Primary School.

This year, the FOCUS Act (Freeing our Classrooms of Unnecessary Screens for Safety Act) is in effect for all Alabama public schools, including those on the KDS campus. This new law is aimed at reducing classroom distractions and improving online safety by limiting student usage of wireless communication devices during the school day in public K-12 schools.

Everyone at KDS is excited for the start of the new school year. If you would like to schedule a campus visit, contact us at info@kdsdar.org or 256-728-4236.
