In May, KDS DAR Middle School students took their scientific curiosity to the next level during an unforgettable trip to the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH). The highlight of the event was the presentation of the students' Weather Balloon Projects. This hands-on initiative challenged students to step out of the traditional classroom setting and dive headfirst into the world of atmospheric science and data-driven research.
Throughout the project, students took on the roles of real-world scientists, meticulously gathering atmospheric data, monitoring variables, and working collaboratively to analyze their findings. Presenting their results at a premier research university like UAH allowed them to showcase not only their hard work and creativity, but also their developing critical and scientific thinking skills. Seeing their data come to life on their presentation boards gave everyone a clear view of just how much effort they poured into their research.
Beyond the academic challenge, the event was a wonderful celebration of teamwork, school pride, and peer support. Gathered together in the university's facility, our students confidently shared their discoveries with peers, instructors, and onlookers alike. We are incredibly proud of their dedication, and we cannot wait to see what heights they reach next!
