KDS DAR School was pleased to co-host, along with the Gunter Mountain Chapter, NSDAR, the annual “Salute to Veterans” program on November 9, 2023. More than 40 veterans attended the program which featured an inspiring speaker and special commemorations including honoring Vietnam War veterans with a special pin and certificate.
Other highlights of the program were a special video presentation on the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War, produced by KDS High School students, and patriotic musical tributes to veterans performed by the KDS High School Band and Choir students. After the program, all veterans and their families were invited to for a brunch prepared by the Family and Consumer Sciences Department.
The KDS DAR High School Marching Patriots participated in the Huntsville Veterans Parade on Saturday, November 11 as guests of the Tennessee Valley Sons of the American Revolution and the Madison County Chapters of the DAR. These students represented the school and the community well.
KDS DAR School students, administrators, faculty, and staff members are thankful for the opportunity to honor the service and sacrifice of our Nation’s veterans.
