In 1955, the DAR of Michigan built the Michigan Arts & Crafts Building to provide a space where local women and school students could learn to use their hands profitably. This building functioned as a craft center until 1994 when a different building was updated to accommodate art classes. Today, the Michigan Center is available for rent for wedding receptions, other special events, and serves as a meeting venue for local groups and organizations.
Under the guidance of State Regent Dawn Brady, DAR of Michigan successfully raised funds for an extensive renovation, completed in the summer of 2025, in celebration of the building's 70th anniversary. The renovation project focused on retaining the building's charm while enhancing its functionality with new vinyl windows, refinished hardwood floors, and remodeled restrooms. Fresh exterior paint and updated landscaping rejuvenated its look, ensuring the building continues to be a vibrant and valuable asset to both the school and the community.
A special dedication ceremony took place at the Michigan Center on Thursday, October 2 to celebrate the completion of the building's renovations. Dawn Brady, State Regent, DAR of Michigan, provided special remarks and thanked her Michigan Daughters for support of this project.

KDS is immensely thankful for 99 years of continuous support from the DAR of Michigan and for Dawn Brady's leadership in taking on this project. With the renovations now concluded, the Michigan Center will continue to serve the community's needs and enhance the school's educational programming.
