At Kate Duncan Smith DAR School, we were thrilled to celebrate the Class of 2024 during Awards Day and Graduation on Thursday, May 16th. It was such a special time to applaud the accomplishments of the 100 outstanding young men and women who graduated.
Awards Day
Senior Awards Day is a time to recognize graduating seniors for their achievements and to award them scholarships which will enable them to pursue their future goals. At the 2024 Senior Awards Day, approximately $849,727 in scholarships were presented to 59 deserving KDS graduates. The scholarship totals with their sources are as follows:
$569,127 – Scholarships from Colleges and Universities $128,000 – Military education Bonuses

Fifty-six special awards were given as well, totaling more than $15,690. These awards recognize the students for not only their academic achievements, but also their service, their attitudes, and their commitment to excellence.
Graduation
Graduation is culmination of thirteen years of work and serves as the starting point for the next phase of these students’ young lives. This year, 100 young men and women graduated from KDS DAR School.
Visiting DAR members offered greetings and words of wisdom to the graduates, their attendance adding much to the festivities as the Class of 2024 gathered to receive their diplomas.
Graduates Katie Randles, Nathan Hardin and Ansley Barnes gave this year’s Commencement Addresses, sharing uplifting memories on their time at KDS and accomplishments of the Class of 2024. Graduate Lauren Buchanan also shared reflections of special memories and inspirational thoughts with classmates, families, and friends in attendance.
