Veterans Day is a special day when we are reminded to take time and appreciate those brave few who have given so much for us all.
The annual Salute to Veterans program, held in conjunction with the Gunter Mountain Chapter, NSDAR, was held on Friday, November 8. Guest speaker Jeff Pence, who is a 1981 KDS graduate, shared a great deal about his experience in the military and how it impacted his life.
Following the program, the veterans in attendance were invited to walk to the new Centennial Campus Commons and view the Field of Flags. Each flag holds the name of a veteran from the local community or a veteran of special significance to community members.
Thank you to Liz Clark and FACS students for preparing a light breakfast for our guests and to the Gunter Mountain Society, Children of the American Revolution, for helping greet and register the veterans.
